Project description

In Spring 2006 altcom and Exeter based design agency AB Multimedia were selected to design and build a tourism focussed content management system (CMS) website for the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site project. The Jurassic Coast is in South West England and runs from East Devon to West Dorset and provides a unique glimpse of 185 million years of Earth History, including the time of the dinosaurs, from the Triassic to the Cretaceous period. AB Multimedia was the prime contractor responsible for visual design whilst altcom’s role was to provide the content management system software plus web hosting, CMS training and website maintenance. The Jurassic Coast content management system used a quality assured and heavily extended version of the Joomla! Open Source CMS code.

The Jurassic Coast website is of international importance and will play a key role in the development of sustainable tourism in the region. It is going to have very high visibility globally and will help publicise that there are world class technology and design companies in South West England.
