Project description:

The LiveWork Network uses an early Open Source Content Management System (CMS) developed from the PostNuke system. It was created to provide a community networking resource for the "live/work" virtual community in the UK. The Live/Work network provides a service to everyone with an interest in providing or using property as a combined workplace and home. The project was sponsored by the Housing Corporation and Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) as part of an integrated programme for promoting the development and use of live/work property. The LiveWork Network CMS was the core of this networking strategy and was supported by a series of launch events, seminars and promotional material. The objective for the website was to provide a low cost, easy to maintain, one-stop shop for live/work networking between developers, planners, architects and residents.

The website was developed using PostNuke, an open source content management system written in PHP, MySQL, CSS, HTML and Javascript. The website runs on a Linux server using Apache webserver. It is the UK's first information service on live/work and as well as hosting briefing documents and case studies, it keeps members in touch with email newsletters, forums and "member-to-member" messaging. It includes events, web links, downloads, news submission/editing and case study modules. The CMS currently uses dedicated a dedicated content database.
