Project description:
The University College Falmouth (UCF) website is a substantial content management driven information and marketing resource with a global audience. As one of the premier arts education institutions in the UK it is constantly looking at ways of making its web presence more engaging and useful to its target audiences. It had identified that an increasing number of users were browsing with mobile devices and therefore it needed to provide an optimised browsing experience. altcom's approach was to keep it simple. UCF also wanted to have the mobile content drawn from the same source as the normal website content so they didn't have to maintain two sets.
- A new stripped down information architecture was agreed
- A mobile template and styling was developed
- The system was set to automatically detect mobile devices and load the appropriate template
- Content drawn from the CMS is stripped of images and resource intensive content
- The user has the option to browse the normal site if they wish
With good planning the development time was kept short and the costs were minimised.
